The reality of people abled differently in today's society.

In today's world most people assume that it is more inclusive for everyone including people who are abled differently but in most instances this might not be the case. The other day I was having a conversation with my friends who happen to be going for their teaching practice and one of them said she was to work as an aide for a teacher who happens to be blind. This caused quite a stir since personally I had never heard of a blind teacher so I asked her how it worked to which she said that basically the teacher will go to class and deliver the content and she would be doing the follow up on the students like marking the assignments given. For me I found it quite nice since the teacher was able to still do his job like the other teachers but apparently my other friends did not seem to agree. One of them actually said that she believes that the persons abled differently should not do such jobs and they should instead focus on other jobs involving other persons abled differently. Obviously I disagreed with her since the said teacher seemed to be doing his work okay but she still insisted claiming that students are usually stubborn and would give the teacher a hard time. So basically this whole interaction got me thinking are we really making an effort as a society to be inclusive both physically and mentally to our brothers and sisters who are abled differently because judging by the interaction it was clear that most people are not actually open minded to such issues. I hope that we can take this opportunity to introspect and actually consider if we really are inclusive as we claim to be.
